Kukui Nut Oil: Natural Skin Care Miracle!
During a recent trip to Maui I was introduced to the oil of the Kukui Nut (Aleurites moluccana). After I enjoyed a little too much fun in the sun I headed to the local health food store to pick up some natural sunburn relief essentials. The store clerk suggested applying Kukui nut oil to heal the burn.
As I continued to enjoy my time on the island, I began asking native Hawaiians how they use Kukui nut oil. As it turns out, Kukui nut oil is used as part of their daily routine. One native Hawaiian shared that kukui nut oil “is how we grow our hair so long and thick.” It is also applied to the skin daily.
As soon as I returned to the mainland, I looked up this miracle oil and learned that the uses of Kukui Nut oil are numerous.
- Prevents skin water loss
- Reduces redness when applied immediately after sun exposure
- Provides a shield to reduce skin damage
- May reduce eczema and psoriasis
- Antiviral benefits
- Source of Omega 3 fatty acids and linoleic acid
Kukui nut oil has quickly become my favorite skin care product. And it really did help heal my sunburn!
