Thanksgiving I think is my favorite holiday of the year. The weather is in transition, it officially starts the holiday season, and the year-end wind-down starts.
Thanksgiving dinner is so much fun; in addition to the good times, look at all the possible great health benefits that go with it!
- Perk-up With an Extra Helping of Turkey! Need an excuse to go back for seconds? We’ve got it! The star of your holiday meal is rich in vitamin B8, a nutrient proven to stimulate the production of serotonin – your body’s own mood booster!
- Stress Management Tip – The Scent of Figs! Simply inhaling the aroma of figs can make hosting Thanksgiving dinner a breeze. This sweet scent encourages the production of feel-good brain chemicals that block stress signals, according to the Smell & Taste Treatment and Research Foundation.
- Boost Joy by Gazing the Family Photo Album! Need a break from the holiday craziness? Flip (or click) through your favorite family photo album. It’s proven to rev happiness by11% – more than if you were to indulge in a piece of chocolate or your favorite cocktail.
- Battle The Blahs by Wearing Cranberry! The easiest way to increase your energy and alertness? Just look at something that’s cranberry red. Color therapy research proves it triggers a surge of the stimulating hormone adrenaline.
- Feel More Upbeat by Saying Thanks! When students would write a thank you letter every two weeks for six weeks, researchers discovered that their happiness soared an impressive 20%!
Have a blissful Thanksgiving Holiday!

hey Ann,
I love color therapy but I never connected it to Thanksgiving and actually wearing “cranberry”. Sounds like a plan (though our Canadian thanksgiving happened in October) for any day of the year!
