Along with using anti aging skin care products, the foods we ingest are a form of beauty skin care.
Here’s a recipe for a side dish we can all use:
Rice Pilaf with Leeks & Tomatoes
2 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter
1 Large Leek – cleaned & sliced (about 2 cups)
3-1/2 Cups Water
2 Boxes (6.09 oz each) Rice Pilaf Mix
2 Teaspoons Chopped Fresh Thyme
1-1/2 Cups Diced Plum Tomatoes
Garnish: Chopped Parsley
Directions
- Melt butter in a 6 quart pot. Add leek; cover and cook over medium-low heat, stirring often, 5 minutes or until tender. Scrape into a bowl and set aside.
- Add water to same pot and bring to a boil. Stir in rice and seasoning packets. Cover and reduce heat to simmer 10 minutes
- Stir in thyme; cover and simmer 10 more minutes or until rice is tender. Remove from heat and let stand for 5 minutes.
- Stir in leek and tomatoes. Transfer to a serving bowl and sprinkle with parsley.
Serves 8. Per serving: 192 calories, 3g fat, 4g protein, 38g carbohydrates, 2g fiber, 8mg cholesterol, 608mg sodium.
