We all have puffy eyes at one time or another. It seems the first line of defense is to apply concealer – usually too much, which just ends up highlighting them more. Instead, here are a few beauty tips offered up by makeup artists.
If your skin is sallow and your eyes are puffy, start by applying a tinted moisturizer – a hint of allover color can make a big difference.- When your eyes are puffy, the surrounding skin is usually irritated, so dab a lightweight concealer (one that comes in a wand) near just the inner and outer corners of your eyes to reduce the redness.
- Pick a matte shadow that’s slightly darker than your skin, then sweep it across your eyelids and along your lower lashes. It sounds counterintuitive, but it truly makes puffiness less obvious.
- Skip bright, dark, or shimmery eye shadows, as well as eyeliner, all of which can make swelling look worse. Instead, curl your top lashes – this helps eyes look more open – then apply black mascara.
- Swirl a rosy blush on the apples of your cheeks and softly fade the color up your cheekbones. Emphasizing other features draws the attention away from your eyes.
