Alcohol, salty foods, crying jags, and allergies are often hard to avoid, hence, so are puffy eyes. There are, however, some beauty secrets you can use to bring the swelling down.
After a Salty Mealor a few cocktails, drink a large glass of water or a cup of chamomile or green tea before bed. If tears or allergies are to blame, take an over-the-counter antihistamine.
Sleep with an Extra Pillow Under Your Head – the elevation helps prevent fluid from settling under the skin around your eyes.
If You Wake Up With Puffy Eyes, dab a pea-size drop of depuffing eye gel that contains caffeine on the area. Look for one that has additional anti-inflammatory ingredients such as cucumber or chamomile.
An Effective At-Home Treatment - stick two wet tea bags (use black tea with caffeine) in the refrigerator for 15 minutes, then place them on your eyes for 10 minutes. The caffeine and cold will help construct blood vessels and drain fluid. A chilled, gel-filled eye mask works wonders too – just be sure to choose one that fully covers the eyes, not one with holes.
