Our facial skin care is very important to retaining the soft, supple, young-looking skin we desire. There are many products on the market today and, if you choose the wrong one, you could totally destroy your beauty skin care treatments. Here is a facial skin care guide you can follow:
Oily Skin – One thing to remember, having oily skin doesn’t mean it’s dirty, it means your oil glands are over-producing sebum, which can be caused by scrubbing your skin too harshly or using harsh soaps, which strip the skin of its natural oils. Try using an oil-free gel or foaming cleanser, which will remove excess oil and dirt without dehydrating the skin. If your face still feels oily after that, try steaming your face by filling a bowl with 3 cups of boiling water and adding 5 drops of your favorite essential oil. Drape a towel over your head and the bowl and let the steam work for about 5-10 minutes, then rinse with cool water.
Dry Skin – Use a rich, cream-based cleanser containing emollients like fatty acids or glycerin. After rinsing, pat dry with a soft washcloth, and leave your skin slightly damp. If your skin is super-dry and flaky, try a tissue-off cleanser, it will leave a thin layer of moisture on the skin.
Combination Skin – Stick to cleansers formulated specifically for combination skin. These ultra-gentle cleansers will help balance your complexion, prepping it for your skin care moisturizer cream.
Sensitive Skin – Look for a thin cleansing lotion that is hypoallergenic, allergy-tested, or fragrance free. But, keep in mind that “fragrance free” can be tricky. Just because the cleanser doesn’t have fragrance added to it, doesn’t mean it’s without a distinct scent. You should try the cleanser only on your neck for a few days; if it irritates it, try something even milder. Here’s a guide to mild ingredients:
Moisturizers – Olive oil, shea butter, avocado oil, honey, milk
Skin-Soothers – Aloe vera, lavender, chamomile, geranium, green tea
Oil-Fighters – Tea tree oil, citrus (lemon, orange, bergamot), ylang-ylang, rosemary
Normal Skin – The great thing about normal skin is you don’t need to look for a formula that fixes anything! Try an SPF-infused cream cleanser or a pack of disposable cleansing cloths for normal skin.
Hyperpigmented Skin – The best cleansers for you are those that exfoliate, because they slough-off the top layer of skin, along with dark marks. Avoid cleansers containing manual exfoliators like micro-beads, salts, and ground nuts as they can cause irritation. Instead, look for those containing glycolic acid, which cleanse your skin gently.
