I was never really sure if there were beauty secrets to applying eyeliner; should I use a liquid eyeliner, an eyeliner pencil, or what color I should use.
I ran across this “liner lesson” from a professional makeup artist and thought there might be other people out there will the same questions. So, here it is:
- Prep your eyes by smoothing a pressed powder over your lids. This will take away redness and prevent liner from smudging later in the day.
- Close your eye and “pull the skin outward and hold it taut”. Trace along your top lash line with a creamy liner pencil.
- Using an angled brush, trace over the liner with an eye shadow of a similar color. “This fills in mistakes and sets the liner so it lasts.”
- Define your lower lash line by using an angled brush and brown eye shadow (one shade darker than your skin) and trace along your lower lash line. “This adds subtle definition, but doesn’t make eyes look smaller.”
- Apply a mascara to top lashes, then use the tip of the wand to do the lower lashes (don’t dip it again). “Lower lashes should be visible – not clumpy enough to cast shadows.”
Give it a try and let us know how it works.
