Fall Fashion Trends 2012

Learn what’s hot in fall fashion trends for 2012!

Fall Color

The definite Fall color this season is oxblood, a dark reddish brown that was seen all over runways from New York to Paris.  Look to the catwalks of DKNY and Alexander Wang who showed luxurious oxblood fur jacket and all leather military inspired oxblood jacket and skirt respectively.

Outfits comprised of diverse shades of blue from deep azure to bright cobalt to navy popped up in American designers’, such as Philip Lim, collection as well as European designers, like Dorothee Schumacher.

If prints are more your style, look out for geographic futuristic prints or Asian inspired numbers, like ones shown at Lela Rose and Jason Wu.

Wearing White

As for the rule of never wearing white after Labour Day, it seems to have been thrown out the window as New York designers showed a bevy of all white outfits to brighten up the Fall offerings.  J. Mendel had model Daga Ziober strut down the runway in a luxurious all white look including a white fur trimmed coat, while Sylvia Heisel kept things more simple with a creamy white silken camisole and full trousers.

Leather and Fur

Make sure that you keep warm during those colder months and wrap yourself in the seasons leathers and furs.  Furs ranging from natural tones to vibrant, saturated hues, have been gracing the runways.  Coats, trims, hats, and even skirts shown in long and short haired furs have been popping up in nearly every collection.  Leathers have been worked to buttery softness in order to create an almost water like texture shown often as dresses and skirts, most notably at Calvin Klein’s New York Ready to Wear show.  If head to toe leather isn’t your cup of tea, many designers have also shown a more conservative side by featuring leathers as trim, like Dennis Merotto’s asymmetrical tweed jacket.

So, if you haven’t already been wishing for a cool Fall breeze, I’m sure you are now.
