Rihanna is known for her statement-making fashion choices, both on and off the stage. But her latest fashion must-have accessory is surprisingly basic.

The Barbadian beauty, who’s in New York City preparing for her Saturday Night Live performance this weekend, was spotted Thursday leaving rehearsal (right) wearing Citizens of Humanity jeans, black pumps, a jacket, shades and her new staple: a red flat-brimmed Trapstar baseball hat.

The singer — who constantly reinvents herself through clothing — must really love this new look, because she’s been rocking it all over the world! Last week she arrived at Los Angeles International Airport wearing a similar Trapstar hat, this one in white (center). She chose a black version of the brand’s signature topper during a Battleship stopover in Sydney, Australia, too (left), and was spotted at the Coachella festival wearing a similar cap, as well.

Whether Rihanna just loves baseball hats or is trying to conceal a bad hair day, she totally manages to make this ’90s-inspired style work. So what do you think? Do you like the singer’s must-have accessory?
