You’ve Got To Move It – Move It!
My Grandsons were visiting last weekend and after baths we popped some popcorn and hunkered down with pillows and blankets for a movie. For the umpteenth time, they chose a Madagascar flick. It was okay with both Papa and me …we are pretty amused by the silly animals. The best part, and why I think the boys always choose a Madagascar movie, is the dancing at the end. Not the animals, but Papa and the boys. They parade through the house chanting “You’ve got to move it, move it. You’ve got to move it, move it” over and over as they hop up and down and spin around. I love watching them. The three of them are better than the movie and everyone falls asleep in no time after all that exercise and laughing.
Anyway, I had plans the next afternoon to meet a friend at the gym.
Instead of putting on jeans and a sweatshirt to hang out with the
boys, then change into gym clothes later, I just put on the gym
clothes when I got out of the shower. I quick combed out my hair, then
started making pancakes for my sleepy heads. We all ate and I got the
kitchen cleaned up, the beds all made, the popcorn vacuumed up, put a
load of laundry in the washer, and then still had time to play a
couple of rounds of Uno with the kids before they got picked up.
That may not sound like much to you, but you have never seen me on a
Saturday morning. It is never pretty and I never do anything, much
less housework, quickly. But, I have to say, this Saturday I amazed
myself. It wasn’t until I realized that I had the “You’ve got to move
it, move it” chant still running through my head that I stopped to see
what made such a difference in my morning. Yes, the song in my head
telling myself to move it, move it, had quite an impact. Also, wearing
my cute pink and green gym outfit made me feel pretty perky, and as
designed, it made me want to move it, move it.
You know how “they,” whoever the heck “they” are, say you are as old as
you feel? I figured out last weekend that I am as active as I look!
From now on, even if I am not going to the gym later in the day, a few
days a week I am getting up and putting on some gym clothes because
for any number of crazy reasons, they make me move it, move it! Try it
PS – I have no stock in the film industry, so if you are in the mood
for a cute movie, the Madagascar films are cute and fun for everyone!
