5 Steps to a Healthy Breakfast that Keeps You Going All Day Long

healthybreakfastDo you eat a healthy breakfast that gives you enough fuel and energy for the rest of the day? The reality is that many people do not. However, eating a healthy breakfast is crucial to staying healthy and energized throughout the day.

Here are some steps to follow for a healthy breakfast:

PLAN AHEAD

Plan ahead and have plenty of healthy breakfast options available for you to eat. Make sure that if you have a tendency to be in a hurry in the morning, that you include at least one quick option such as a green smoothie or something else that you can prepare and eat in less than 15 minutes.

KNOW YOUR NEEDS

Know what you need to eat personally in order to get your needed energy and fuel. This is not the same for everyone so you will probably need to experiment with various foods in order to figure this out. For example, I cannot eat oatmeal or other cereal without some nuts and fruits and stay full for more than 2-3 hours. I also have a tendency to get tired faster when I eat cereal.

KEEP YOUR OPTIONS OPEN

Consider other breakfast options than those you may have previously considered. Examples include a chia seed pudding, green smoothies, flax seed crackers with yogurt, or fruit smoothies.

MIX IT UP

Mix up your healthy breakfasts and avoid eating the same thing every day. Come up with at least 4 different staples and rotate them.

WATER IS BEST

Pay attention to what you are drinking in the morning. Examples of things that may cause more issues during the day than help include coffee, pop, juices and yes even milk. For many people drinking water at the first of the day is often the best bet. You can even add a few drops of lemon essential oil or lemon juice to help cleanse your system at the beginning of the day.
